The Commercial group at Swan Turton comprises a team of expert lawyers who have invested time and energy to engage with their clients and fully understand their business drivers and ongoing strategies. This enables members of our group to add genuine value by being integrated with our clients’ in-house teams while providing objective and impartial advice. Our clients’ ongoing trading and contractual issues are integral to their success and our dedicated Commercial group recognises and supports that.

We work with customers, suppliers and service providers, licensors and licensees as well as consultants, manufacturers, distributors, agents and resellers, in each case both domestically and internationally. We cover a number of industry sectors, but have a particular focus on the media, marketing and technology sectors. This ensures that we have a deep industry knowledge and understanding of the underlying frameworks and dynamics involved. The members of our commercial team also have significant experience of dealing with intellectual property rights in these industries and ensuring that the necessary rights are appropriately owned or licensed.

The types of trading and contractual matters on which we advise are agreements for the supply of goods and provision of services, including master services and framework agreements, outsourcing agreements, terms and conditions of business, distribution and agency arrangements, consultancy contracts, marketing and promotion agreements, confidentiality agreements and consumer contracts. We also have considerable experience of working on IT/IP matters, including data protection, privacy and information security.

Our Commercial group ensures it is up to date on this frequently changing area and aware of the possible business impact for our clients. The team also prides itself on its commerciality and market awareness. This combined skill set allows us to guide our clients through the legal risks and possible serious consequences while also being able to identify appropriate solutions and highlight new opportunities.
