Tony has many years’ experience of advising on a broad range of transactional and contentious matters, primarily focussing on the TMT sector and the creative media. He has particular expertise in dealing with contractual and intellectual property matters. His clients include film, TV and other audio-visual producers, film sales companies and distributors, record companies, music publishers, composers and musicians, IT and entertainment software developers and distributors, book and online publishers, authors, brands and other creatives and media companies. Tony joined Swan Turton after heading the Media + IP Group at Marriott Harrison.
Tony is the author of ‘The Filmmakers’ Legal Guide’ a practical ‘how-to’ book aimed at producers. He is a guest lecturer on the legal aspects of film & television at Portsmouth University, at the National Film & Television School and for the Raindance Organisation. He has also recently been working with students at the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester) and with the Take 5 and Move On Up development programmes for musicians run by Serious Trust.
Tony is a keen proponent of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He is an accredited mediator and a qualified arbitrator (MCIArb); he is on the panel of arbitrators of the Independent Film & Television Alliance.
